Negative Words and Phrases

There are some key words and phrases that people should avoid when trying to project a positive self image.

1.    Problem – A better choice is challenge.  If you say we have a problem, people right away think of the worse.
2.    Unfortunately – A better word is fortunately.
3.    To be honest with you - There is no alternate.  Don't say it.  It implies that generally you are not honest but you are being honest in this particular situation.

Don’t say "I’ll have to" say "I’d be glad to”

To a neighbor don't say "We’ll have to get together for dinner” instead you should say "we would love to get together for dinner".

Changing one word can make the difference.
